Fantasy NFL-Waiver Wire pickups for Week 12

Those playoff chances are getting slimmer as each week passes, and the injuries never stop in the NFL. Keeping up on what players will help you or need to be replaced becomes more pressing. QB Joe Burrow went down for the rest of the season, affecting all of the Cincinnati Bengals’ skill players. The Baltimore Ravens RB’s, JK Dobbins, and Mark Ingram have caught the COVID bug and will not be playing in their Thanksgiving matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Lots to consider heading into a huge week 12.

QB Taysom Hill New Orleans Saints 43% Owned- 18-23 233YDS 10CAR 51YDS 2TDS

Taysom Hill will be a massive pickup for people who lost Burrow this week. Hill got his first NFL start at quarterback for the Saints, and he didn’t disappoint. He led the Saints to a huge 24-9 week over the Atlanta Falcons after head coach Sean Payton decided to give Hill the start over free-agent signee QB Jameis Winston. It seemed like an odd choice, but Hill helped Payton feel at ease with his decision. Hill’s legs will be his biggest asset going forward for fantasy rosters but let’s not forget that the Saints offense is finally fully healthy as well. If the Saints keep winning, I think it will allow Hill to keep taking snaps under center for the foreseeable future while QB Drew Brees recovers from rib injuries.

RB James White New England Patriots 40% Owned- 5CAR 19YDS 6REC 9TGTS 64YDS

James White has always been one of the better backs to own in a PPR league, but something just hasn’t been clicking this season. On Sunday, though, RB Rex Burkhead went down with an injury, and finally, the old White was back. QB Cam Newton noticed and looked for White often.

Burkhead has been ruled out for the rest of the season after injuries sustained in Sunday’s loss to the Houston Texans, and the Patriots have to face phenom QB Kyler Murray and the Arizona Cardinals in week 12. James White will continue to be a part of the action as the Patriots try to keep up with the Cardinals’ high flying offense.

RB Frank Gore New York Jets 10% Owned- 15CAR 61YDS 1TD 2REC 2TGTS

RB LaMichael Perine went down with an injury on Sunday, leaving Frank Gore as the only RB on the Jets. This should make for a massive amount of touches going forward. Yes, Gore is a dull old back, but the volume he is about to see should be enough to make him one of the top adds for this week. The Jets are still winless and are playing for nothing, but Gore still had a 15 point game against the Los Angeles Chargers. Next up are the Miami Dolphins, who just got run all over by the Denver Broncos.

TE Jordan Reed San Francisco 49ers 16% Owned

Jordan Reed is coming off a bye and should be fresh to go for the rest of the season. He had a very solid line in week 10, 5REC 6TGTS 62YDS, and with the 2020 wasteland that is the tight end position, Reed is a must pick. The 49ers always use their TE a lot in their offensive game plan, so Reed should be looking at five or more targets per game moving forward. The 49ers are also getting healthy. WR’s Deebo Samul and Brandon Aiyuk and RB Raheem Mostertshould be back this week. This should take some of the heat off of Reed.

Extra Adds: QB Daniel Jones Giants; RB Tony Pollard Cowboys; WR Michael Pittman JR Colts; TE Robert Tonyan Packers; K Tyler Bass Bills; DEF New York Giants.
