Well, fantasy fans, we made it through the regular season despite all the COVID craziness going on. Now, as the playoffs are right around the corner, I advise managers to make sure you have solid secondary options on your bench. The last thing you want is to take a zero in a playoff matchup. Here are some best bets to help keep your roster ready and able for anything thrown its way.
RB Cam Akers Los Angeles Rams- 9CAR 84YDS TD 30% Owned
Cam Akers is finally starting to live up to the preseason hype he had when the Rams drafted him to replace outgoing RB Todd Gurley. He has now scored touchdowns in consecutive games and has looked like the Rams’ best back. Akers was still behind RB Darrel Henderson in carries, but he crushed him in yards. The way that the Rams have been using their RB’s, I suspect that Akers will continue to get touches. The Rams’ offense needs playmakers to match their dominant defense and make some noise to get them to the playoffs.
WR Keke Coutee Houston Texans- 3TGTS 2REC 17YDS 2-PT 2% Owned
Keke Coutee is a name that wasn’t really mentioned this season, and for good reason. Until recently, he has earned .1 fantasy points this season. But now, with all the changes to the Texans WR core, Coutee saw some action. The Texans’ number one WR, Will Fuller, has been suspended for the remainder of the season because of PED use, and the Texans released WR Kenny Stills at the beginning of this week. This leaves Coutee as the number two option for the Texans. Coutee is not guaranteed to be a great addition, but with Watson as his QB, he should have plenty of opportunities to put up some nice numbers.
QB Kirk Cousins Minnesota Vikings- 34-45 307YDS 3TD 4CAR 19YDS 2-PT Fum Lost 40% Owned
Kirk Cousins has quietly been having one of the better seasons for a fantasy quarterback but somehow has made it onto few rosters. Cousins has scored at least 20 points in four straight games now, and all without his best WR Adam Thielen, who will be back for week 13 against the Jaguars. The Jacksonville Jaguars have given up the third-most points to opposing QB’s this season. Even though the Vikings are mainly a running team with All-Pro RB Dalvin Cook running the ball, in recent weeks, Cook’s talent has allowed numerous openings in the passing game, and Cousins has taken them all.
