Bears-This Offense is Downright Offensive

Nobody thought the Bears offense would be breaking records this season, but they are. The Bears offense have been breaking all the wrong records and look absolutely clueless when they possess the ball. They had their worst offensive performance this past Monday night against the Minnesota Vikings as they fell 19-13. This game felt like the Bears were down by 100 with how inept the Bears’ offense looked.

The Bears had 149 yards of total offense against the Vikings, who haven’t exactly been a defensive juggernaut in 2020. There were plenty of players with more yards on offense in one-half of their contests than the awful Bears did in their whole game. To make matters worse, QB Nick Foles went down toward the end of this game and had to be carted off the field.

The Bears don’t know the status of their two QB’s, Nick Foles and Mitch Trubisky, as they head into their bye week. The Bears record has fallen from 5-1 all the way now to 5-5, with their 4th straight loss. This team looks like one of the worst in the whole league, even though the defense has played at a Super Bowl-caliber level for the most season.

Head coach Matt Nagy gave up play-calling duties to his offensive coordinator Bill Lazor, and the offense looked like a worse version of Nagy’s base offense. I feel Nagy gave up play-calling duties to Lazor to take some of the heat off of him and put Lazor in the frying pan, as management will look to do something if the Bears freefall continues.

LB Roquan Smith has been quite impressive this season, and I hope he finally gets some recognition for being one of the best middle linebackers in the game. Through these ten games, he has 96Combined tackles, 70Solo, 26AST, 15TFL, 2Sack, 5PD, and is in line to have career highs in all categories other than tackles for loss, which he already passed his career-high just in the first ten games. The defense did all they could to win this game, but the offense was so bad that the defense had to stay on the field for most of this game and just got gassed out.

It doesn’t look like help is on the way for the Bears, especially with the coaching staff getting worse as each week passes. I hope the Bears clean house with the coaching staff and get rid of GM Ryan Pace. The Bears have plenty of talent to get back to winning ways and make the playoffs, but I don’t want anything to do with this coaching staff anymore. I want them out of Chicago ASAP.
