The White Sox offense is on quite a roll, and the biggest reason is Tim Anderson. When Tim Anderson hits, the whole team plays to their full potential, and man, does this team look good.
Coming into Tuesday night’s matchup, the offense had been on a tear, scoring seven runs in each of the last two games, 10 of them being home runs. Tuesday started out the same way as the game before, a leadoff home run, hit by Tim Anderson. The White Sox have now scored in the first inning for three straight games.
Dylan Cease gave up that lead almost immediately at the top of the 2nd inning. But the White Sox quickly recovered when the one and only Tim Anderson knocked a double into left field, scoring a run. Yoan Moncada chipped in with a sacrifice fly to score another run, and Jose Abreu singled to score Anderson to take the lead at 4-1 going into the 3rd.
Jose Abreu (3-5 3RBI) was feeling pretty good about seeing the Tigers pitching staff again. Nomar Mazara (2-4 2R 1RBI) had his first multi-hit and overall best game as a White Sox player. Hopefully, it is an improvement he can continue to build on with the rest of the offense. Dylan Cease (6.1IP 5H 2ER 3BB 3K 104PC 1W) had his longest outing of the year and his first 100 pitch game this season; he also earned fourth win on Tuesday.
The offense took advantage of rookie pitcher Tarik Skubal (2IP 7H 4ER 1BB 1K 52PC 1L) in the first start of his career. Tim Anderson (4-5 3R 3RBI 1HR) led the way with his 9th career four-hit game and was a triple away from the cycle. With Anderson doing what he is doing at the top of the lineup.
Cease has matured as a pitcher compared to last year. As he continues to flourish, he will become a go-to third option to Giolito and Keuchel. With Reynaldo Lopez coming back soon, the starting rotation will only get stronger.
The White Sox Are once again on a winning streak going into Wednesday’s matchup with number one prospect for the Tigers, SP Casey Mize, and the White Sox are going be calling up one of their top prospects, Dane Dunning.
The way the offense is rolling, the White Sox will do all the heavy lifting for Dunning on Wednesday and make Dunning’s debut for the White Sox a great one.
