White Sox-Home Run Derby!

The White Sox offense is giving the league a home run derby since there will not be an all-star game this year. You are welcome, MLB.

On Sunday, The White Sox offense hit four home runs back to back in the historic game, tying the MLB record for home runs in a row. On Monday night, they also did something remarkable with the longball. The White Sox were facing the Detroit Tigers’ SP Matthew Boyd, who faced off against the White Sox in Detroit just five days ago. Boyd gave up home runs to the first two batters, Tim Anderson and Eloy Jiminez, on Monday night in Chicago, the same thing happened again. Tim Anderson and Yoan Moncada led off the game with two back to back solo home runs off Boyd.

The White Sox made history for the second consecutive day as this is the first time in Major League history that two games start with back to back home runs off the same pitcher in the same season. This would not be the end of Boyd’s (4IP 4H 3ER 2BB 9K 90PC 1L) night. In the next inning, his arch-nemesis Anderson stepped up to the plate and popped another one of Boyds pitches over the RF wall for his second home run of the game.

The rest of the team joined Anderson and Jimenez in their impromptu home run derby. Luis Robert stepped up to the plate after looking pretty awful in his first two appearances hit a big home run to left-center field. Even Danny Mendick joined in and smacked a screaming line drive over the LF wall for his first home run of the season. This gave the White Sox five solo home runs and a 5-2 lead heading into the 7th inning, but the White Sox offense still wanted to add some more runs as insurance for the pen.

Luis Robert stepped up to the plate and crushed a ball into the RF seats and was one of the fastest hit balls of the season with an exit velocity of 115.5MPH. It was a good thing the stands were empty, that ball would have seriously stung. Robert hit yet another home run in the bottom of the 8th, the first multi-hr game for the phenomenal rookie, aka La Pantera.

The White Sox have hit a total of 10 home runs over the past two games. This is the White Sox offense we have been wanting to see.

Gio Gonzalez (4.2IP 6H 2ER 2BB 10K) pitched his best game with the White Sox, and hopefully, he can keep making it to 5IP and earning some wins. The Bullpen was back in straight lockdown mode with 4.1 scoreless innings to end this game.

The White Sox set themselves up for a nice series against the Tigers. Two out of the next three pitchers, Tarik Skubal and number one prospect Casey Mizeare, are making their first career starts for the Tigers.  Dylan Cease is on the mound for the White Sox tomorrow and will be looking to keep this winning streak going. When the White Sox offense is going like it is right now, they really are one of the best in the MLB.
