I was watching the National Championship on Monday night, which was glorious. Those scumbags at Ohio State really got worked by Alabama. The last thing I was expecting was to hear groundbreaking news on the White Sox. The White Sox and GM Rick Hahn signed one of the best overall players available, RP Liam Hendricks, to a three-year, $54 million contract. The addition of Hendricks gives the White Sox that lockdown closer to bring home that World Series title.
Hendricks (3-1 14SV 1.78ERA .67WHIP 25.1IP 37K 24G) was the 2020 Reliever of the Year and coincidentally ended the White Sox season last year. Hendricks has 39 saves with a strikeout average of 13.1 per 9IP over the past two seasons. Of course,I loved what RP Alex Colome did for the White Sox, but the peripheral numbers will show that Hendricks is a game-changer.
The White Sox clearly see the need to have a dominant bullpen to go with their off the charts offense. This bullpen will now have a backend consisting of Foster, Heuer, Crochet, Bummer, and Hendricks to slam the door. The two teams the White Sox are chasing in the American League to win the pennant, the New York Yankees and Tampa Bay Rays, both have amazing bullpens. All I have to say is good luck.
Hahn has done another amazing job getting this team ready for a run at the World Series. This signing is better for the team overall than Cy Young winner SP Trevor Bauer would have been. The White Sox should still be looking for some OF/DH depth and maybe even another SP but the White Sox have only become a better baseball team since the 2020 season ended. Thank you, Mr. Hahn.
