Sleeper: Playoffs/Final Review

When I wrote the previous post, our league was heading into the playoffs. Now that the season is over, I can talk about how sleeper handles the playoffs. Sleeper kept it pretty standard for the most part, but if there was one big difference. There was no option to lock teams that are not in the playoffs. If your league is made up of members who understand that they shouldn’t be picking up players unless they are in the playoffs, then it’s not an issue. However, after 15+ years of playing in multiple leagues a year, this is a common issue.

Some leagues give out prizes for third place or for winning the toilet bowl (losers bracket). In my opinion, there is one goal: to win the title. Regardless of your league’s setup, the ability to lockout teams comes in handy, and I don’t like that sleeper doesn’t provide the option.

Sleeper Toilet Bowl Trophy

Sleeper does offer a cool (digital) trophy for the best and the worst team of the league. It also provides some options for customization. Yahoo, ESPN, and NFL.com don’t hand out anything special; they just add a medal next to your name and gives you something to screenshot and post on social media. This is great for people who like a little pizzazz but don’t want to spend massive money on a real trophy.

Sleeper overall was sleek, fun, and felt like a new experience for my fellow league mates and me. I would highly recommend it for folks who have a set league, a work league, or are younger fantasy players. Yahoo is still my favorite fantasy app, but Sleeper came in as a close second. I plan to keep the league I moved on to Sleeper next fantasy football season and start up a basketball league to see what they have to offer on that end. I would give Sleeper a 4.4 out of 5 stars as an overall football fantasy app.
