Best-Jacob DeGrom SP New York Mets-7IP 2H 1ER 2BB 14K 104PC
Jacob DeGrom is the best pitcher in baseball and has won the Cy Young award the past two seasons. And after Wednesday’s performance, he is well on his way to his third consecutive win.
DeGrom had his season-high in strikeouts against the Marlins on Wednesday and when he departed the game he left with a 4-1 lead but of course, the Mets’ awful bullpen couldn’t hold on to give DeGrom his much deserved victory. The Mets have done this a lot. DeGromis a back to back Cy Young winner who can’t get a win because of the awful team behind him. DeGrom (2-0 1.80ERA .83WHIP 49K 7BB 35IP 6GP) has been money in the bank all season, as expected, but the Mets have been awful yet again this season. DeGrom might be able to win another Cy Young but it won’t be enough to get the Mets back into the playoffs.

Worst-Joey Gallo OF Texas Rangers-0-3 1BB 1K
Joey Gallo has always had huge ups and huge downs in his career but this season the Rangers can ill afford for him to stay in this slump for much longer. The Rangers have had some of the worst luck in the league when it comes to injuries, not just of their pitching staff but they have also lost some of their young hitters for good chunks of games as well.
Gallo has been looked upon to be even more of the leader than he already was for this season, but (.186AVG 7HR 16RBI) has had a season you’d rather forget. He does get walked on base at a great clip still and he also plays a gold glove RF as well. Saying all this, the Rangers need Gallo to be the big power-hitting behemoth he was before.
Extra Trash: Gerrit Cole SP Yankees-5IP 5H 5ER 2BB 9K 1L; Josh Bell 1B Pirates-0-4 2K; Trevor Williams SP Pirates-6IP 9H 8ER 2BB 3K 1L; Victor Robles OF Nationals-0-4 3K; Colten Brewer SP Red Sox-3.2IP 5H 4ER 2BB 4K 1L.
Always a good chance that you can find both the best and the worst in a single Mets game.
