Best-Zac Gallen SP Arizona Diamondbacks-6IP 5H 0ER 2BB 10K 90PC 1W
Even though the Diamondbacks won’t be in the playoffs this season, they have to be pleased with the progress their future ace Zac Gallen had this year. He capped off his season on Friday night with a brilliant performance that saw him tally a career-high ten strikeouts. When the Marlins traded Gallen (12GS 3-2 2.75ERA 1.11WHIP 72IP 82K 25BB) for SS Jazz Chislom, he was having a great rookie season for the Marlins. The Marlins had an abundance of pitching, and the Diamondbacks were the beneficiaries. The Diamondbacks couldn’t be happier with how well Gallen has done, and at only 25 years old, he has plenty of room to get better.

Worst-Jose Berrios SP Minnesota Twins-5IP 5H 4ER 2BB 7K 81PC 1L
The Twins had an amazing opportunity to lock up the American League Central title on Friday night, but their star pitcher failed to keep the red hot Reds at bay. Berrios (12GS 5-4 4.00ERA 1.32WHIP 63IP 68K 26BB) has not had the year that most people hoped. The Twins needed Berrios to be a solid number two starter, behind Kenta Maeda, heading into the playoffs. But this performance against a playoff team in the Reds was an ominous sign heading into the playoffs.
The Twins tend to lose a lot of games once the postseason starts. So far they have lost 16 playoff games in a row. They had a great chance to ensure they would have home-field as a top-three seed after the White Sox got blown out by the Cubs. Still, If the Twins want to ditch this losing streak in the playoffs, Berrios needs to be at his best.
