MLB-2020 World Series-Game 2

Los Angeles Dodgers v Tampa Bay Rays (Dodgers lead 1-0)

In the first game of the World Series, the Rays didn’t look like they belonged on the same field as the Dodgers. But the Rays weren’t the best team in the American League for no reason. The Dodgers stepped onto the field and faced a very different team in game two. The Rays were able to even up the series with a nice bounce-back win with a score of 6-4.

The Dodgers decided to go to Tony Gonsolin (1.1IP 1H 1ER 1BB 1K 29PC 1L). He couldn’t get through two innings which threw a wrench into manager Dave Roberts’s plan. Although, when he chose Gonsolin to start, the game was destined to be a bullpen game. SP Dustin May (1.1IP 4H 3ER 0BB 1K 25PC) allowed this game to get blown out of reach. He has all the talent in the world, but so far, he doesn’t seem ready for this stage. I would not pitch this guy for a while unless it was a very low leverage situation. The big bats slept through this game; OF Mookie Betts, 1B Max Muncy, and OF Cody Bellinger went 0-9 in Wednesday night’s game.

The Rays SP Blake Snell (4.2IP 2H 2ER 4BB 9K 88PC) pitched a lot better than his line would imply and deserved the win. He had a no-hitter going through four innings. The two hits he gave up were in the fifth inning before he was taken out. Overall, he dominated the Dodgers lineup from the start of this game. 2B Brandon Lowe (2-5 2R 3RBI 2HR), who had been in a pretty big slump, got the offense jump-started and capped off his night by hitting his second home run.

Both teams get a day off to regroup and get ready for one of the best pitching matchups of the postseason. The Dodgers will be running out Walker Beuhler, and the Rays will be pitching Charlie Morton for a great game three on Friday.
