For most leagues, the playoffs are only three weeks away. That means these last weeks are crucial as you are either jockeying for a position or just trying to make it in for a chance at the almighty title. Some big players will be missing week 11(QB Drew Brees, RB Christian McCaffery, QB Sam Darnold), but there are some gems in the waiting to ease the pain of their loss.
RB Salvon Ahmed Miami Dolphins 9% Owned-21CAR 85YDS 1TD 1REC 1TGT 5YDS
Ahmed has seized the Dolphins’ ever-changing backfield to emerge as a tremendous waiver-wire pickup. He is a good replacement for McCaffery for this upcoming week, even with RB Matt Brieda back against a free-falling Denver Broncos team. In week 10, Ahmed didn’t get as involved in the passing game, but the Dolphins held a lead throughout the game and didn’t really need him. Ahmed still leads the backfield in touches and should be on track for a top 20 week for the RB position. He is my top pickup as lead backs are precious this deep into the season. With the slew of injuries for the Dolphins, I see Ahmed keeping this spot for the rest of the season.
QB Jameis Winston New Orleans Saints 4% Owned- 6-10 63YDS
Winston has been thrust into the starting QB role after Drew Brees suffered significant injuries to his ribs and lungs. Brees will be sidelined for at least three weeks, giving Winston a chance to play the Atlanta Falcons twice. The same Falcons that have been giving the most points to QBs in fantasy. That alone is enough to put a bid in for Winston. He didn’t do much in the Saints victory on Sunday, but this week he will step onto the field after a full week of taking team reps. Winston can be frustrating at times, but he has also done well enough to win a matchup on his own. For anybody who is having QB troubles, Winston is the top QB on the wire.
WR Michael Pittman Jr. Indianapolis Colts 10% Owned- 7REC 8TGTS 101YDS 1CAR 21YDS
Pittman was a trendy sleeper pick this season, but injuries killed his value. Now that he’s back on the field, he has shown what the hype was about. His last two games, Pittman racked up 15TGTS, 11REC, and 157YDS. QB Phillip Rivers has been in desperate need of a playmaker like Pittman to pump some energy into their lifeless offense. The Colts get to play the Green Bay Packers’ high-powered offense, so the Colts will need to score, and I see Pittman being a big part of that on Sunday and beyond.
TE Logan Thomas Washington 36% Owned- 4REC 6TGTS 66YDS
QB Alex Smith has come back with a vengeance and has passed for the most yards of any QB in his two starts. Thomas has been trending up as well with this uptick from the Washington offense. The TE position has been awful, and that is putting it nicely for the 2020 season. Unless you drafted Travis Kelce as your TE, you have been mixing and matching all season. But Thomas looks like he will provide a concrete floor each week with the Washington offense and Smith at QB. Thomas would be my only TE pickup for this week, and I think he has a great chance to be a top 10 TE for the rest of the season as well.
