It’s time to make that last playoff push in most leagues, with playoffs starting either this week or next. Now, more than ever, the right moves can help you get into the playoffs and bring home that title.
David Peterson SP New York Mets, 22% Owned
Peterson had a pretty solid rookie campaign for the Mets (29.2IP 4W 21K 3.03ERA 1.21WHIP) before the Mets moved him from the rotation because of an injury. But this week, the Mets let him start on Monday, guaranteeing him a two-start week.
The Mets pitching staff, other than Cy Young frontrunner Jacob DeGrom, has been a crapshoot all season, which should allow Peterson to pitch the rest of the season for the Mets who are trying to make a playoff push. The Mets are in the race for the last playoff team in the National League with a record of 19-22, which is only a couple of games back right for the 8th and final spot this season. Peterson gets to play the Phillies in what should be a game with playoff intensity and then follow it up later in the week with another playoff team, the Blue Jays. Peterson has been up to the task all season, and I think he will help the Mets, and your team, make the playoffs.
Adam Duvall OF Atlanta Braves OF, 10% Owned
Duvall has been an absolute monster over this past week (.310AVG 8R 5HR 7RBI), and the Braves have been one of the hottest offenses going right now. The Braves pitching has been extremely on and off all season, dealing with injuries and inconsistencies within the organization. In order to compensate, the offense has stepped up to keep their lead in the division.
Duvall has found a spot is this hard-hitting lineup. With big stars like Ronald Acuna Jr, Marcell Ozuna, and Freddie Freeman, Duvall is reaping the benefits of opposing pitchers focusing on the big hitters, leaving him the easy pitches. He making pitchers pay now that he’s getting more regular playing time. Pick him up for the stretch run; he is on one of the best offenses and is hitting home runs at a good pace. I don’t see Duvall slowing down. The power is real with this guy.
Trevor Mahle SP Reds, 19% Owned
Mahle is another pitcher who will have a two-start week. The first will be up against the fading Cubs, whose offense hasn’t been good all season, and the second is up against the Cardinals. Mahle (13.2IP 1W 14K 3.29ERA .73WHIP), which is good for a top 100 overall ranking, is a must grab, especially with a two-start week when other pitchers might not be pitching until the weekend. The Reds have been a disappointment this season, but still have an outside shot of sneaking into the playoffs.
