Fantasy Baseball-Waiver Wire Adds 8/17/2020

Another crazy baseball week in the books for the 2020 season. This week has allowed some players to bring some valuable stats to your fantasy squads. Here are three players to pick up ASAP that will immensely help your chances of bringing home that title in 2020.

Clint Frazier OF New York Yankees

The New York Yankees have one of the best offenses in the league. This offense is starting to get banged up at almost every position (Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton, DJ Lemahieu), but have no fear Clint Frazier is here.

Frazier has been on a tear since he was called up (.636AVG 2HR 8RBI) for these last three games. The Yankees have given him regular playing time in the OF and at DH. Normally I would wait and see when somebody gets off to such a hot start, but Frazier has been called up before, and he looked just as good then. With a battered and bruised Yankees, it seems like Frazier is going to be playing most days. Frazier is a must-play OF in fantasy leagues until the wheels fall off or the Yankees get healthy.

Elieser Hernandez SP Miami Marlins

Hernandez has been a revelation since being called up, and Sunday was no different (5IP 3H 0ER 0BB 9K). He had a strong start, although the Marlins were not able to score any runs for him.

The Marlins should keep pitching Hernandez; he has pitched well (0-0 1.84ERA 19K .75WHIP 2BB 3GS 14.2IP) and deserves more time on the mound. The Marlins might handle him with kid gloves, similar to other pitchers this season.

This week, he is only scheduled to make one start against the Nationals. But again, the peripheral stats are well worth the add. Most owners will probably be sleeping on this guy since he has not recorded a win yet (and he plays for the Marlins), but I believe he will have another monster start.

Nick Solak 2B/3B/OF Texas Rangers

The position eligibility is enough for most people to take a flyer on Solak, but he has also been putting in work at the plate as well. Solak (12-28 6R 1HR 4RBI 1SB .429) has been producing in every category and has been hitting near the middle or towards the top of the order this week.

Solak’s ability to slide in at any spot on the field just about guarantees he will be on the field every day. The Rangers have started playing some better ball of late, and Solak has been a big part of it with his consistent bat and versatile fielding. Pick up Solak before his stock skyrockets.
