Bears-QB or Not To QB

The Bears have used their franchise tag on Allen Robinson, which leaves them with QB Nick Foles. Despite working to entice a trade for QB Russel Wilson, it’s anybody’s guess what will happen. I’m of the mindset they will miss out on Wilson, and taking a QB in the draft makes the most sense. Of course, GM Ryan Pace never seems to make sense with his moves or draft picks. Supposing the Bears are still convinced that Nick Foles is their guy or somehow a miracle trade for Wilson, Kadarius Toney, Terrace Marshall Jr., and Christian Darrisaw can all provide the future QB some much-needed support.

WR Kadarius Toney, Florida Gators

Toney has elite speed and would be a huge asset in both the passing game and for returns. He had at least one touchdown receiving, rushing, and returning last season, so this guy just needs the ball in his hands, and he will make things happen for whatever team he is on. He played in 11 games this season against some of the country’s best players in the SEC, many of who are set to be drafted in the first round. Toney can play against NFL-level competition and still be effective. Toney’s size, 6’0” 199LBS, is a little small to be a number one WR, but if he builds up his body, the sky is the limit for this WR.

WR Terrace Marshall Jr., LSU Tigers

Marshall only played seven games this past season but was still able to rack up ten touchdowns; twenty-three receiving touchdowns in the last two seasons. He has the perfect size for a top WR at 6’4”, although he only sits at 200LBS. He will need to prove that he has enough speed to be a top WR, making his 40-yard dash something to watch. I think Marshall would be a great pick at 20.

OT Christian Darrisaw, Virginia Tech Hokies

The Bears offensive line was anything but consistent in 2020. At the beginning of the season, the Bears line looked awful. Still, the Bears offensive line found a groove in the second half of the season. The Bears’ tackles, Bobbie Massie and Charles Leno, are getting a little long in the tooth and cannot be used as linchpins at the most important spots on the line. Darrisaw would be a great pick to build on that position. He excels at the running game and is also a good pass blocker that will only get better in the NFL. This would be a great pick no matter who is in at quarterback, and it never hurts to have depth on the line. Just ask the Kansas City Chiefs about O-line depth.
