The 2021 offseason is off to one of the craziest starts. Although, after the most unpredictable season the NFL has ever seen, it only makes sense. For the first time in a long time, there is a long list of big-name QB’s who are either in free agency or are looking to be traded. Aaron Rodgers, Deshaun Watson, Dak Prescott, Derek Carr, Carson Wentz, Kirk Cousins, and Jimmy Garrappolo seem to be available enough to warrant a call. As a team with longstanding QB troubles, the Bears should be the first to court any of these players.
However, I don’t think it will matter if they manage to land the best of them. Head coach Matt Nagy and general manager Ryan Pace will find a way to screw it up. Nagy has not shown any changes to his system or style of coaching that would benefit a QB. Also, Pace is about to let Allen Robinson walk, one of the very few good-skill position players he brought in.
As a Bears fan, I would love any of those QB’s to come to Chicago and finally give some stability to the position. The reality is, whoever is under center for the Bears will struggle. The Bears are likely losing their top two WR’s, Allen Robinson and Anthony Miller. The offensive line isn’t anything to be enthusiastic about either. They have also regressed over the past two seasons under Nagy.
As good as it sounds to go after one of these star QB’s, the Bears’ organization decided to stay stuck in reverse by keeping Nagy and Pace. Right now, I am bracing myself to suffer through this season until these two men, and the dumpster fire they created are gone from this franchise.
